Components of an X Post!

Hi everyone! Welcome back to days with Dani! In this week's blog post we are going to five into the components of X. X, formerly known as Twitter, is an app known for letting users post content for the world to see and join public conversations, allowing you to stay up to date on breaking news and follow multiple accounts of your interest. There are multiple components to X that I'd like to talk about including text within your post, photos you can add to your post, and videos you can add to your post.

In the reading they state that in 2017, X doubled the character limit for posts from 140 to 280. Then in 2023, X increased that amount from 280 to 4,000 characters for X blue subscribers. If you are using your X account the 4,000 characters are helpful to tell stories about your experiences, but if you are running a business account you may want to limit the amount of characters you're using. Some tips for brands looking to leverage the amount of characters they use is to publish blogs, stories, case studies, testimonials, timelines and more. Another component I want to discuss are photos that you can post to your posts to increase its activity. X has two options for images. You can attach up to four photos to a single post, or a single image can be embedded into a pasted URL. According to the reading, posts with images receive 18% more clicks, 89% more favorites, and 150% more reposts than posts without. Once you've posted your photos, X allows you to tag up to 10 people per image. If you are a brand, tagging individuals gives them a higher chance that that person will repost the image to their followers, which in turn increases engagement 💬.

The last component I want to talk about today is attaching a video to your X posts. When posting videos for X, it's best to upload videos directly to the platform rather than linking to a third-party video site like YouTube. The reading added that videos on X drive 2.5 times more replies, 2.8 times more reposts, and 1.9 times more likes when embedded directly into the platform. Brands today are using videos on X to share content such as products and services, providing customer service, capture and share events, and tell customer stories.

Thank you for coming by the blog today and reading up on the different components of an X post! See you next week for more content!
