Where I'm Heading Next!

My last semester of undergrad you say?... Crazy to think my time here at Ohio Northern University is coming to an end soon. It has yet to hit me that in a few months I'll be walking across the stage to collect my diploma. My schedule this semester is a little all over the place as I've completed most of my requirements for my degree in psychology.

I picked Clinical and Counseling Psychology as my degree, mainly because I have a passion for working with children after I graduate. My future plan after leaving Ohio Northern Univ. is to become a Child Behavior Specialist. A Child Behavior Specialists job in summary is to implement treatment plans for children to help them to develop skills necessary to function in their everyday lives as they continues to become independent of their guardians. I developed this passion after working at a summer camp that is geared towards youth with diabetes. At this camp I've been able to work with their social work team that is on staff for the kids if they need assistance. The experiences I gained at camp are what I brought back with me to Ohio Northern Univ. and used them as tools to further my educational experience. This camp opened my eyes to many possibilities that could be open for me after graduating.

In addition to becoming a Child Behavior Specialist, I would also love to volunteer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. At JDRF they provide support and research for individuals with diabetes. I was diagnosed at a young age with Type 1 diabetes so this foundation has a special place in my heart and I would love to help others who go through similar situations like I did.
